It is possible to claim that whoever comes to visit Prague as a tourist will not know what leisure time is. A sightseeing tour of the plentiful landmarks offered by the city and its immediate vicinity is a grand sportive feat. Prague is a magical city of bridges, cathedrals, gold-tipped towers and church spires, whose image has been mirrored in the surface of the Vltava River for more than a millennium.

The historic city center is the Prague Conservation Area of 866 hectares. In December 1992, the final decision was reached concerning the enlisting of the historic center of Prague in the list of UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage sites. The National Register of Prague Intangible Cultural Monuments includes nearly 2,000 buildings, 1,440 of which are within the Prague Conservation Area. The most significant of these have been declared National Cultural Monuments (NKP). 
 
Almost 3 million tourists visit Prague every year.
